During their years as students at Florida State University Bill & Meg Greenman were performers in it’s famed Flying High Circus. This student circus is an extra curricular activity with just about any kid of aerial and stage act imaginable. As performers they learned over a dozen acts including flying trapeze, high wire, juggling, teeterboards, Spanish web, and swinging trapeze.
In 1976, after graduating from FSU with degrees in Biology (Meg) and Speech Communications (Bill) the Greenmans entered into the professional circus world. But after a disappointing initial season and a disastrous auto accident, the Greenman’s ended their short professional circus careers to seek the Lord’s will for their lives. One year later they combined their professional circus skills with an all-consuming desire to win souls for Christ and began Circus Alleluia Ministries (CAM), based in Tampa, FL.
Over the ensuing 11 years Bill directed CAM’s many outreaches, training over 60 volunteers in circus performance and ministry. This included taking the circus into prisons, juvenile centers, public and private schools, colleges and university campuses, civic auditoriums, horse and car race tracks, public parks, back yards, city streets, and Christian festivals in the US and Canada. Circus Alleluia was featured on the CBN 700 Club and the PTL club, along with many local and regional interviews on TV, radio, newspapers, and magazines. That decade of ministry saw tens of thousands of people won to Christ
In 1980, after his own miraculous healing from double pneumonia, Bill began to experience dramatic manifestations of the Holy Spirit after Circus Alleluia’s performances. During these times thousands of miracles took place as he and members of his troupe prayed for people to be healed and delivered from Satan’s hold, some of whom led hundreds to Christ sharing their miraculous testimonies. Again, it didn’t matter what the venue or the audience those miracles happened at every performance for the next 9 years. Many times the Lord simply instructed Bill to have those in the audience needing healing to stand where they were and the Lord healed them instantly where they stood.
At the Jesus festivals Circus Alleluia ministered to the children in a separate tent. Over those years thousands of children were born again, baptized in the Holy Spirit, healed, and delivered from darkness. Usually by the third day of a festival the children’s tent was filled with parents and adults wanting to see the power their children had told them about. The Greemans often released the children in their tent to lay hands on the adults needing healing, resulting in hundreds of miracles.
Then the Lord led the Greenman’s to end Circus Alleluia Ministries, which they did in December of 1989. We hope you enjoy these photos and join us in giving the Lord Jesus praise for what He accomplished through that unique performing art.
